His Feet Were Like Fine Brass

"Lord, thank You for Your Word, which reveals so much about You. Help me today to see You more clearly as I meditate on these Scriptures."

"His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His Voice as the sound of many waters;"  (Revelation 1:15).

In the Bible, brass is an emblem of judgment. There was a great brass altar in the outer court of the tabernacle where animal sacrifices were made. The fires of God's judgment would burn themselves out upon the sacrifices on that brass altar. Now, the feet of Jesus are symbolized here as feet of molten brass, glowing with the fires of God's wrath. And with those feet He is going forth to trample out His enemies! He is unstoppable. He is the relentless Christ with untarnished integrity.

He is also the regal Christ with unchallenged authority. Have you ever heard the thunderous sound of a huge waterfall? Just imagine the sound of one hundred cascading waterfalls! That's what the Bible is saying here about the voice o our Lord. it speaks of His majesty and power - with which no man will be able to argue. Can you imagine trying to talk back to Niagara Falls? There will be no talking back to the regal Christ We'll stand before Him in silence!

Consider what is said in the Old Testament about the voice of the Lord: The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty (Psalm 29:3-4).  "The Lord will roar from on high, and utter His voice from His holy habitation; He will roar mightily against His fold. He will give a shout against all the inhabitants of the earth." (Jeremiah 25:30).

Jesus will be returning not to redeem but to judge. And when He utters His righteous judgments, all will listen. We will stand speechless in the presence of His majesty.
