Light Or Darkness

But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble. Proverbs 4:18-19 NKJV

Every decision, reaction and spoken word is a path we take. Whether the path is good or wicked depends on us.
Life is difficult. There are many pressures and stresses that push us to the snapping point. Herein lies an amazing beauty, if we are willing to experience it. That beauty comes from allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us in our responses to life. When we yield to Him in those difficult moments we become like the shining sun as God’s grace and love flow through us.

By contrast, those who choose to handle these trying times on their own are in a kind of darkness preventing them from knowing what they stumble on. When we are tripped up by something it is nice to know what caused the fall so we can avoid it next time. But it seems those on their own course don’t have that luxury. Without knowing what they stumbled on, they are doomed to repeat the same mistake again and again.

The way of the wicked is a path moving away from God. Anyone who says “thanks, but no thanks I’ll handle this myself” to God is in darkness. It might start with a self-centered decision, “I’m too busy to help out.” Then thoughts turn inward and the world around is internally judged on how well it meets my needs. Every situation becomes discouraging as the realization that no one cares about me and my needs sets in. Every action taken is done with impure motives of what might be in it for me. The way of the wicked is darkness.

The only way out is to look to a greater power than self. Turning to God, admitting our weakness is really a powerful thing to do. Right there is our weak state, God comes and fills us with His Spirit, His mighty and all-powerful Spirit with which we are able to do all things through Christ in us. The more we yield to Him, the brighter we shine.

Are you saying “No thanks, God” by handling things on your own? Let’s ask God to turn on the light that we won’t stumble and instead become like shining sun as we allow Him to move through us.

Lord help us to trust in You. Teach us to depend on you for everything. Enable us to make godly decisions by choosing You in the moments of life. Come fill us with your Spirit and lead us on the path of righteousness. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
In His Grace,

~Think On It~
