A Sea of Glass Mingled with Fire

Thank You, Lord, for your steadfast Word. Help me to obey the truths You reveal. Amen

"And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass ... " (Revelation 15:2)

Earlier in John's vision, we saw before the throne of God the sea of glass, which is God's eternal Word, settled and sure in heaven (Revelation 4:6). Now we see these Tribulation saints standing there on that Word, praising God for their victory over the beast (v. 3). If we want that same victory in life today, we must learn to stand upon the solid Word of God.

God gave Joshua a formula for victory when he was going into Canaan, and we can draw from it today to learn how to gain the victory which comes by the Word of God.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success (Jos. 1:8).

God's Word is to be in our mouths at all times. We should learn to quote the Bible and speak His Word. When you verbalize it, you vitalize it. Always have God's Word on the tip of your tongue.

Keep the Word of God running through your mind like a tune you find yourself humming over and over again. That's what it means to meditate on His Word. And when you do, you'll find yourself thinking God's thoughts after Him.

Most importantly, we must actively respond to what God shows us in His Word. We'll be blessed by memorizing and meditating on Scripture. But only through obeying His Word will we see His promises become glorious realities within our lives.

Follow these steps and you'll know victory - not just in the sweet by-and-by, but in the nasty now-and-now - as you plant your feet firmly on the Word of God.
